Companies always value the opportunity to have a motivational speaker who will talk to their workforce.
With your ability to work alone and as a team organising your diary for training etc, this is often what is needed in a corporate environment.
Offer to give a talk to the workforce about you and your sport. This will help to involve them in what you do and take an interest in your future
We have given you some ideas:
Writing a Script
- Make sure you have one!
- Give it a short title that matches the subject
- Introduce yourself and the subject you are going to talk about
- Tell the audience what you are going to do and how long it will take
- Keep it simple and to the point
- Allow for questions to be asked at the end
- Learn it word for word
- Try it out on a friend first
- Time yourself
Preparing for the Presentation
- Find out about your audience
- Check the layout of the venue before you arrive
- Ask someone from the company to introduce you
- Produce an agenda and timetable
- Don't forget your script!
Adding some Humour
- Tell some jokes to relax the audience (and yourself!!)
- Make sure they are appropriate
- Examples of jokes and humorous stories can be found at Funny.co.uk - The Comedy Portal
In addition you should contribute to the company's newsletter providing interesting stories and pictures.
Provide personal invitations to events that you are participating in and ensure by good planning that they have a great time.
It might be an idea to send Season's Greetings at the end of the year with a personalised Christmas card.
We hope you find the above useful but if you have any ideas you would like to share then please send us an e-mail to Reception@sportlinkuk.com
