PRESS RELEASE FOR TEAM SPORTLINK - 23.06.00
LE MANS COMES TO THE SOUTH COAST
On the weekend 17/18 June, Bognor Regis held its own 24 hour LeMans at Fordpark Raceway.
Four individual race teams entered with a maximum of twelve people per team. Only one model slot car was allowed to be used, although repairs and tyre changes were permitted throughout the twenty four hour period. The race started at the same time as the real event in Le Mans.
All the teams entered were given the opportunity to raise money for a charity of their choice. Sportlink UK, who finished in second place racing a Porsche, raised a magnificent £560 which is going towards the Kids 2 Care 4 Allied Dunbar charity. Further details of the Kids 2 Care 4 Charity can be obtained from www.sportlinkuk.com.
The winning team, Monarch Lines, racing a Special Edition Toyota, did a total of 5,316 laps, equivalent of 207.40 miles, at an average speed of 184.15mph. SportlinkUK in their Porsche finished second doing 5,289 laps (206.35 miles) - not far behind the winning team.
